Sitemap is submitted to Google Search Console

Sitemap is referenced in robots.txt

No noindex pages included in sitemap

No URLs blocked by robots.txt included in sitemap

All URLs use canonical versions (HTTPS, trailing slash consistent)

Sitemap is under 50,000 URLs and 50MB

lastmod dates are accurate and updated on content changes

Robots.txt exists at /robots.txt and returns 200

Site is not accidentally blocked with Disallow: /

CSS and JS files are not blocked

No important pages are unintentionally blocked

Indexing

Check Index Coverage report in Google Search Console

Fix all Error status pages immediately

Review all Excluded pages to confirm they are intentionally excluded

No important pages have noindex tag

All important pages are crawlable by Googlebot

Canonical Tags

Every page has a self-referencing canonical tag

Canonical tags use absolute URLs with HTTPS

No canonical chains (A canonicals to B which canonicals to C)

Canonical targets are not blocked by robots.txt

Sitemap only contains canonical URLs

Core Web Vitals

LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) under 2.5 seconds

FID/INP (Interaction to Next Paint) under 200ms

CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) under 0.1

Core Web Vitals pass in Google Search Console

Images are properly sized and use modern formats (WebP/AVIF)

Redirects and Links

No redirect chains (A redirects to B to C)

No redirect loops

Internal links use canonical URLs (not redirecting versions)

No broken internal links returning 404

HTTP automatically redirects to HTTPS
